About The Role: Leading AI Innovation for Risk Assessment

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior AI Researcher to join our core AI team, responsible for building the foundational engine that powers our product. This is a critical time to join as we are rapidly growing and addressing a major need for automation within a highly complex and high-impact domain. What You’ll Do:

As a Senior AI Researcher at Honeycomb, your contributions will include:

• Cutting-Edge Computer Vision: Applying state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms to significantly enhance product performance and functionality, directly boosting our market competitiveness.
• Proprietary Multimodal AI Models: Developing advanced, proprietary multimodal AI models (VLMs) as part of both hard-coded and agentic workflows. These models will process and integrate diverse data sources, including satellite imagery, web-sourced images, textual documents, and structured tabular data, to mimic the complex risk assessment of professional underwriters.
• End-to-End Data Science Ownership: Taking full ownership of data science projects from inception: including project specifications, data collection, sanitizing, and preprocessing, through model training and development, all the way to deploying models to production, performance monitoring, and optimization.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders to integrate AI solutions seamlessly.
• Continuous Innovation: Consistently thinking outside the box to drive continuous improvement and differentiation, proactively identifying opportunities for innovation, and taking initiative to generate and implement new ideas.

Basic Requirements:

We’re looking for an experienced AI professional for this strategic role:

• Education: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• Computer Vision Expertise: 7+ years of hands-on experience in the development and deployment of computer vision algorithms.
• Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead machine learning projects end-to-end and work effectively with stakeholders.
• Team Player & Drive: A collaborative team player with a positive attitude, strong drive, independence, and a fast-learning ability.
• Innovative Spirit: You thrive within an innovative and creative culture, taking initiative to push projects forward rather than waiting for instructions.
• Continuous Learning: A natural curiosity to constantly advance your algorithm and coding abilities.

Ways to Stand Out:

• Multimodal AI Experience: Preferred experience with state-of-the-art technologies like VLMs (Vision-Language Models), foundation models, and similar cutting-edge AI.
• Tech Lead Experience: Previous experience as a tech lead is a significant advantage.
