**Applied AI Team Lead (Civic Tech/NLP)**

**About the Role**
Lead Zencity’s Applied AI team in developing NLP/ML solutions that help governments understand community needs. Manage a 5-person team while hands-on building AI systems analyzing resident feedback for 300+ cities worldwide.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Technical Leadership**
– Architect AI solutions using:
– LLMs & generative AI
– RAG systems
– Geospatial analytics
– Implement MLOps best practices (CI/CD, monitoring)
– Optimize cloud-based data pipelines (Databricks/Spark)

**Team Management**
– Conduct 1:1s, code reviews, and sprint planning
– Recruit and develop data science talent
– Bridge technical and product teams

**Project Execution**
– Deliver civic tech features from research to production
– Balance rapid iteration with system reliability
– Present technical solutions to government stakeholders

**Qualifications**

**Required**
– 2+ years leading data/engineering teams
– 6+ years hands-on Python/SQL development
– Production experience with:
– Cloud infrastructure
– PostgreSQL
– Agile development
– Strong NLP/LLM understanding

**Preferred**
– PyTorch/TensorFlow deployment
– Civic tech/government data experience
– Open-source contributions
